Why people use Tone & Style Analyzer

Tone & Style Analyzer reports a doc’s voice (authoritative / collaborative / didactic / etc.), intended audience, and 6–10 style attributes (sentence-length distribution, use of jargon, register, emphasis style). Useful for the “does this sound right?” pre-publication audit. The analyzer reports — it doesn’t rewrite.

Brand voice consistency check
Run multiple pieces of content through the analyzer to verify consistent voice across the team. Useful for content teams scaling output where voice drift is a real risk.
Pre-rewrite tone audit
Before running AI Rewrite to shift tone, the analyzer surfaces what the current tone IS. Useful for the “is this too formal? Too casual? Both?” question that’s easier to answer with structured data than gut check.
Multi-author harmonization audit
When several authors contribute to one doc, voice drifts. The analyzer surfaces the inconsistency (Section 1 = formal-authoritative, Section 3 = casual-collaborative) so the editor knows what to harmonize.
Audience-fit verification
Drafts aimed at a specific audience (technical decision-maker, casual end-user, regulatory reviewer) audited for register fit. Surfaces mismatches the writer didn’t notice.
Brand-voice training corpus building
When building a brand-voice style guide, run your best examples through the analyzer to articulate (in concrete attributes) what makes them on-brand. The output is the descriptive baseline for the guide.

How Tone & Style Analyzer works

Three steps. Sign in to run, zero retention — files never persisted on our servers.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop the doc
PDF up to 100 MB. Works on prose — reports, articles, marketing copy, internal docs.
  2. STEP 2
    We measure + describe
Server-side text extraction, then attribute analysis: voice classification, audience inference, sentence-length distribution, jargon density, formality score, emphasis style (italics / bold / caps usage), passive-vs-active ratio, sentence-opening variety.
  3. STEP 3
    Get a structured report
Markdown output: overall voice / audience / 6–10 style attributes with values + observations. NOT a rewrite — the report tells you what the doc IS, not what it should be. Use AI Rewrite or Improve Writing for the actual rewriting.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Citations on every claim
Every AI summary, answer, and translation links back to the page it came from. You can verify the source before relying on the output. Hallucination is bounded, not blind.
  • Pay only for what you use
No subscription. Purchased credits never expire. Cancel anytime. Cost shown before you run — exact credit amount appears after upload.
  • Multi-provider routing, no vendor lock-in
We balance multiple AI providers per call to optimise cost and quality. If one has an outage, the next call automatically tries another. You're not bound to a single vendor's pricing or downtime.
  • Zero retention by design
Your PDF lives in memory only as long as the AI call needs it, then it's discarded — nothing is persisted to our servers. We don't fine-tune models on your data. Verifiable in your dashboard's audit log.
  • Honest about model limits
When a doc exceeds the model's context window we surface that the output was truncated (we render result.wasTruncated in every AI tool's UI). When a number can't be verified from the source we flag it. No silent failures.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t it rewrite the doc?
Separation of concerns: the analyzer measures, the rewriter changes. Combined tools tend to produce confused output where the user can’t tell what was diagnostic vs prescriptive. The 2-tool workflow (analyze, then optionally rewrite) is more controllable.
What attributes does it measure?
6–10 attributes including: voice (authoritative / collaborative / instructional / journalistic etc.), audience inference, sentence-length distribution, jargon density, formality, emphasis style, passive-vs-active ratio, sentence-opening variety, contractions usage, second-person address frequency.
Will it identify my brand voice?
Generic tone categorization, not brand-specific. To match against your brand voice, run multiple on-brand examples and observe the consistent attribute pattern — that pattern is your operational definition of brand voice.
Can it tell tone shift mid-document?
Surfaces register-shift observations (“Section 1-3 are formal-authoritative; Section 4 shifts to casual-conversational”). Useful for catching unintentional voice drift in long docs.
What’s the credit cost?
3 credits per doc. Cost is fixed regardless of doc size.
Will it suggest a target tone?
Reports current state — doesn’t prescribe target. For target voice, you (or your style guide) define what fits the audience. The analyzer pairs with AI Rewrite (which DOES take a target voice) for the analyze-then-rewrite workflow.

Want to actually shift the tone?

AI Rewrite changes tone (formal ↔ casual), register (technical ↔ layperson), or length while preserving facts. The natural next step after the tone audit identifies what to shift.
