Why people use AI Table Extract

AI Table Extract pulls structured tables from PDFs as CSV or Excel — even multi-page tables. Different from generic text extraction (which loses table structure) and from manual copy-paste (which is tedious and error-prone). Useful for any quantitative analysis where the source data is locked in PDFs.

Annual report / 10-K table extraction
Annual reports have dozens of tables (financials, segment data, risk factors). Extract them as CSV for spreadsheet analysis — faster than the “copy-paste & clean up” loop that breaks on multi-page tables.
Government / regulatory data
Government reports (RBI / SEBI / IRDAI publications, census data, statistical releases) heavily use tables. Extraction makes the data analyzable in Excel / Tableau / Power BI without manual re-entry.
Research paper data tables
Research paper tables (results, demographics, comparison) extracted for re-analysis. Pairs with Research Paper Summarizer for the “summary + raw data” analysis workflow.
Bank statement / transaction tables
Multi-page transaction tables in bank statements extracted for spending analysis, budgeting, or loan applications. Indian bank statements (HDFC / ICICI / SBI / Axis) supported.
Textbook / handbook data tables
Reference tables in textbooks (constants, conversion factors, lookup tables) extracted for use in calculation workflows. Faster than copy-typing and more accurate.

How AI Table Extract works

Three steps. Sign in to run, zero retention — files never persisted on our servers.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop the PDF
PDF up to 100 MB. Works on any PDF with tabular content — reports, statements, papers, government data.
  2. STEP 2
    We detect + structure
Server-side extraction with table-detection: identifies table boundaries, header rows, multi-page continuations. Each table’s structure preserved (rows / columns / merged cells / nested headers). AI Vision used when text-extraction alone fails (e.g. scanned tables).
  3. STEP 3
    Get CSV + Excel output
Output: each table as separate CSV (importable into Excel / Sheets / database) plus an Excel file with one sheet per table. Page citation links each extracted table to source.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Citations on every claim
Every AI summary, answer, and translation links back to the page it came from. You can verify the source before relying on the output. Hallucination is bounded, not blind.
  • Pay only for what you use
No subscription. Purchased credits never expire. Cancel anytime. Cost shown before you run — exact credit amount appears after upload.
  • Multi-provider routing, no vendor lock-in
We balance multiple AI providers per call to optimise cost and quality. If one has an outage, the next call automatically tries another. You're not bound to a single vendor's pricing or downtime.
  • Zero retention by design
Your PDF lives in memory only as long as the AI call needs it, then it's discarded — nothing is persisted to our servers. We don't fine-tune models on your data. Verifiable in your dashboard's audit log.
  • Honest about model limits
When a doc exceeds the model's context window we surface that the output was truncated (we render result.wasTruncated in every AI tool's UI). When a number can't be verified from the source we flag it. No silent failures.

Frequently asked questions

Will it handle multi-page tables?
Yes — tables that continue across page breaks are detected and concatenated into one logical table. Header repetition (the same header repeated on each page) deduplicated.
What about merged cells / nested headers?
Multi-row headers (where a top-level header spans multiple sub-columns) preserved with proper hierarchy. Merged data cells (rare in well-formed tables) flagged for manual review — CSV doesn’t natively express merged cells, so we duplicate the value across cells.
Will it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes — AI Vision OCR runs first, then table-structure detection on the recognized text. Quality on scans depends on resolution and table line clarity. Clean printed scans work well; faded / hand-drawn tables may need manual cleanup.
How does it handle Indian-format tables?
Indian conventions (lakh / crore in numbers, comma vs period decimal separators, multilingual headers) recognized. Bank statement formats from major Indian banks (HDFC / ICICI / SBI / Axis / Kotak) pre-tested.
What’s the credit cost?
3 credits per doc. Cost is fixed regardless of table count.
What if a table is wrong?
Common issues: wrong column boundaries, header detection drift, multi-line cell handling. The output preserves the page citation so you can verify each table against the source. For high-accuracy extraction (financial filings, regulatory submissions), spot-check before downstream use.

Need to extract chart data too?

Chart → Data Table reads charts visually and extracts data points with axis labels. Pairs with table extraction for the “extract everything quantitative from the PDF” workflow.

Try Chart → Data Table
