Why people use Proofread PDF

Proofread PDF surfaces spelling, grammar, and agreement errors as a structured table — page reference, original quote, error type, suggested fix. Optimized for the “final pass before publication” workflow where you need machine-readable error detection across a long doc, not just inline squiggles.

Final pass before publication
Books, research papers, long reports going to press. Proofread surfaces typos and agreement errors that escaped multiple human reads. The error-table format is reviewable in 10 minutes regardless of doc length.
Multi-author doc consistency check
When several authors contribute to one doc, voice and grammar drift. The error table surfaces inconsistencies (“data is” vs “data are”, US vs UK spelling) for editorial decision before publication.
Job-application materials
Cover letters, resumes, personal statements. A typo can sink an application; the structured error report is faster than re-reading every paragraph.
Translated content QA
Documents translated by humans or LLMs benefit from a final grammar pass. Especially useful when the translator is non-native — agreement errors and article use are common drift points.
Legal / regulatory submissions
Filings, contracts, and regulatory submissions where typos are professionally embarrassing or legally consequential. The structured error report is auditable evidence of the proofreading pass.

How Proofread PDF works

Three steps. Sign in to run, zero retention — files never persisted on our servers.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop the doc
PDF up to 100 MB. Works on prose — books, papers, articles, application materials, contracts.
  2. STEP 2
    We scan for errors
Server-side text extraction, then a multi-pass error scan: spelling (incl. context-aware homophones like there/their/they’re), grammar (subject-verb agreement, tense consistency), punctuation, article usage, collocation issues. Errors classified and scored for confidence.
  3. STEP 3
    Get a structured error table
Markdown table with columns: page / quote / error type / suggested fix. Sorted by page so you can work through the doc linearly. Page citations let you verify each suggestion in context.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Citations on every claim
Every AI summary, answer, and translation links back to the page it came from. You can verify the source before relying on the output. Hallucination is bounded, not blind.
  • Pay only for what you use
No subscription. Purchased credits never expire. Cancel anytime. Cost shown before you run — exact credit amount appears after upload.
  • Multi-provider routing, no vendor lock-in
We balance multiple AI providers per call to optimise cost and quality. If one has an outage, the next call automatically tries another. You're not bound to a single vendor's pricing or downtime.
  • Zero retention by design
Your PDF lives in memory only as long as the AI call needs it, then it's discarded — nothing is persisted to our servers. We don't fine-tune models on your data. Verifiable in your dashboard's audit log.
  • Honest about model limits
When a doc exceeds the model's context window we surface that the output was truncated (we render result.wasTruncated in every AI tool's UI). When a number can't be verified from the source we flag it. No silent failures.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of errors does it catch?
Spelling (incl. context-aware homophones), grammar (subject-verb agreement, tense, comma splices, run-ons), punctuation, article use (a/an/the), collocation issues (idiom violations). NOT a stylistic editor — it doesn’t flag verbosity or weak word choice; for that use Improve Writing.
What’s the false-positive rate?
Variable. Technical / domain-specific terms sometimes flag as misspellings. Stylistic choices (intentional sentence fragments, regional spelling variants) sometimes flag as errors. Treat the table as a filtered list to review — rejected suggestions are normal, not failure.
Does it understand US vs UK English?
Default infers from the doc’s majority dialect. If the doc is mixed (which is itself an inconsistency worth flagging), the report surfaces the conflict so you can pick a standard and apply consistently.
Will it work for non-English content?
Best results in English. Indian-language proofreading (Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, etc.) works at lower accuracy — agreement rules are correct but idiom detection is weaker. For specialized non-English proofreading, native-language tools may be better.
What’s the credit cost?
3 credits per doc. Cost is fixed regardless of doc size.
Should I accept every suggested fix?
No. Read each suggestion in context (the page citation makes this fast). Reject any that change meaning, voice, or domain-specific terminology. Treat the table as a list of things to consider, not a list of things to apply.

Want clarity polish too?

Improve Writing tightens prose for clarity and concision (~20-30% shorter) without changing facts. Use it AFTER proofread to get both error-free and concise.
