Why people use Blood Test Report Parser

Indian lab reports vary wildly in format — SRL, Thyrocare, Apollo Diagnostics, Metropolis, government hospital labs — but they all express the same data: lab values with reference ranges and flags. The parser extracts that data into a structured table so you can compare reports across labs and over time. Extraction only — this is not medical advice.

Self-tracking health metrics over time
Annual checkups, lipid profiles, fasting glucose, thyroid panels — every report goes through the parser, the structured output goes into a spreadsheet. Trends across years become visible in a way that paper reports and PDF archives obscure.
Comparing reports across labs
Different labs use different reference ranges and units (SI vs imperial, mg/dL vs mmol/L). Parser preserves the lab’s own reference range alongside the value, so you can spot whether a “high” flag is a real change or a different range.
Telemedicine consult prep
Most Indian telemedicine consults expect you to type in your latest values. Parser converts the PDF into a copy-pasteable structured block, saving 10 minutes of typing per consult.
Annual checkup result digest
Comprehensive annual checkup reports run 8–15 pages with hundreds of values. Parser extracts only the flagged (high/low) values into a one-page digest, so the discussion with your doctor focuses on actual concerns.
Family health record digitization
Aging parents’ lab reports accumulating in a folder become a structured family health record. Useful when caregivers are remote and need to share recent values with a specialist for second opinions.

How Blood Test Report Parser works

Three steps. Sign in to run, zero retention — files never persisted on our servers.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop the lab report PDF
Any Indian lab format. Scanned reports work too — we OCR before parsing. Up to 50 MB per report.
  2. STEP 2
    We extract + flag
Lab values, units, reference ranges, and high/low/normal flags pulled from the report into a structured table. Lab name, report date, and patient ID surfaced in the metadata header.
  3. STEP 3
    Get a structured table
Markdown table with columns: parameter / value / unit / reference range / flag / page. Copy into a spreadsheet for trend tracking, or share with a doctor for clinical interpretation.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Citations on every claim
Every AI summary, answer, and translation links back to the page it came from. You can verify the source before relying on the output. Hallucination is bounded, not blind.
  • Pay only for what you use
No subscription. Purchased credits never expire. Cancel anytime. Cost shown before you run — exact credit amount appears after upload.
  • Multi-provider routing, no vendor lock-in
We balance multiple AI providers per call to optimise cost and quality. If one has an outage, the next call automatically tries another. You're not bound to a single vendor's pricing or downtime.
  • Zero retention by design
Your PDF lives in memory only as long as the AI call needs it, then it's discarded — nothing is persisted to our servers. We don't fine-tune models on your data. Verifiable in your dashboard's audit log.
  • Honest about model limits
When a doc exceeds the model's context window we surface that the output was truncated (we render result.wasTruncated in every AI tool's UI). When a number can't be verified from the source we flag it. No silent failures.

Frequently asked questions

Is this medical advice?
No. The parser extracts data — it does NOT interpret values, recommend treatments, or diagnose conditions. A “high” flag in the output reflects what the lab’s reference range said; whether that high value matters clinically is a question for your doctor.
Which Indian lab formats are supported?
SRL, Thyrocare, Apollo Diagnostics, Metropolis, Lal Path Labs, Dr Lal PathLabs, government hospital labs (AIIMS, JIPMER, regional medical colleges), and most private nursing-home in-house labs. New formats added based on user reports of failures.
What about handwritten lab reports?
OCR handles printed text reliably. Handwritten values (older reports, smaller clinics, some government labs) are recognized but accuracy degrades — verify the extracted values against the original before relying on them.
Are the reference ranges age/sex adjusted?
We preserve the lab’s OWN reference range, which usually IS age/sex adjusted (most modern labs print the appropriate range based on the patient demographics on the cover page). We don’t add or modify ranges — what the lab said is what you see.
What’s the credit cost?
3 credits per report. Cost is fixed regardless of report size.
Privacy / sharing?
Report PDF sent to inference provider for parsing, not stored. For maximum privacy when sharing the structured output (e.g. WhatsApp to a family doctor), redact your name and patient ID first via Redact PDF on the original report. The structured table you share will still have all clinically relevant values.

Have a discharge summary too?

Discharge Summary Explainer rewrites Indian hospital discharge summaries in plain English — diagnoses, medications, follow-up plan, warning signs — for patients and family. Pairs with the lab report parser for full post-hospital handoff.
