Why people extract emails and phones from PDFs

Old contact sheets, conference attendee lists, vendor catalogues, sales-rep PDFs, real-estate listings — every flat-file roster has hundreds of contacts that need to live in a CRM, a spreadsheet, or an email tool. Extract Contacts pulls them out as a deduped table with page references — runs entirely in your browser, no signup required.

Sales lead enrichment
Conference attendee lists, exhibitor directories, industry reports often have contact details buried in prose. Extraction turns the PDF into a CSV ready for Salesforce / HubSpot / Pipedrive import.
Email-list dedup before campaign
When inheriting a contact list as a PDF (a common consultancy / agency situation), extract first, dedupe against your existing CRM, then upload the new-only contacts. Saves the spend on already-known leads.
Vendor / supplier directory parsing
MSME directories, trade-association rosters, and exhibitor lists publish as PDFs. The structured CSV makes them queryable — find every supplier in a city, every vendor with a specific email domain.
Resume contact-info verification
Recruiters with hundreds of candidate PDFs use the tool to standardize the contact info they capture into ATS — same email/phone formats across all candidates, no re-keying typos.
Real-estate / classified listings
Indian property classifieds publish as multi-page PDFs. Extract phones to get every broker / owner number with page references for follow-up. Indian phone formats (+91, bare 10-digit, STD landline) all detected.

How Extract Contacts works

Three steps, no signup, no uploads.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop your PDF
Up to 100 MB. The byte-parser pipeline that runs PDF to Text + the email/phone regex all execute in your browser — nothing uploaded.
  2. STEP 2
    We extract + dedupe
Emails matched via standard local-part@domain.tld regex. Phones matched via India-first ordered patterns (+91 XXXXX XXXXX → 0XX-XXXXXXXX → bare 10-digit) plus US/Canadian and generic international (+CC). Each contact deduped across pages with occurrence count + page list preserved.
  3. STEP 3
    Copy or export CSV
Combined CSV (type / value / normalized / region / count / pages) drops into your CRM, spreadsheet, or email tool. JSON export available for programmatic workflows.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Same engine Chrome uses
PDFium is Google's PDF engine — the one that powers Chrome's built-in PDF viewer. We compile it to WebAssembly so it runs in your browser at near-native speed.
  • 100% local processing
Most free PDF tools upload your file to a server, process it, and stream the result back. We don't. Your file lives in your browser tab and never touches our infrastructure. Verifiable in your browser's Network panel.
  • No watermark, no signup, no daily limit
Convert 1 PDF or 1,000. We don't gate on volume because there's nothing to gate on — the engine runs on your machine.
  • Honest about limitations
When something the tool can't do (encrypted PDFs, cross-reference streams), we tell you clearly instead of failing silently. Same for partial results: sampled vs exact, embedded vs not.
  • Open standards, free engines
PDFium is BSD/Apache licensed (free for any use). We don't pay vendor license fees and pass that savings on to you (and to ourselves) as a free, ad-supported tool with no upgrade-to-pro pressure.

Frequently asked questions

What phone formats are supported?
Indian formats are primary: +91 XXXXX XXXXX, +91-XXXXX-XXXXX, +91XXXXXXXXXX, 0XX-XXXXXXXX (STD landline), bare 10-digit (mobile). Plus US/Canadian (+1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX, etc.) and generic international (+CC ...). Bare 10-digit numbers default to Indian classification (mobiles starting 6-9; landlines 2-5).
Will it catch obfuscated emails like ‘name [at] domain dot com’?
No. The regex matches standard email format only. Obfuscated emails are intentionally hard to scrape — that's their purpose. For obfuscated formats, use AI Extract Entities which uses an LLM and handles natural-language obfuscation.
What about scanned PDFs?
Won’t work — we extract from PDF text, and scanned PDFs have no text layer. The tool detects this case and tells you to run AI PDF OCR first to add a text layer, then re-run Extract Contacts.
Does it work for non-English content?
Email regex is universal (emails are ASCII). Phone regex is biased toward Indian + US formats; other international formats with + prefix usually match but won’t be normalized. For Indic-script content (Hindi, Tamil, etc.), text extraction itself works on Unicode PDFs but quality degrades on older non-Unicode fonts.
Privacy?
Everything runs in your browser. The PDF never leaves your machine. The extracted contact table is for your own use — for sharing with third parties (e.g. handing a list to a marketing agency), redact PII via Redact PDF or scrub via your own tool first.
What about false positives?
Phone regex over-matches on prices, timestamps, ID numbers — those get filtered by ‘isLikelyPhone’ before output, but a few may slip through. Eyeball the output before importing into a CRM.

Need to extract structured entities too?

AI Extract Entities surfaces people, organizations, places, and dates as four separate tables — useful when you need named-entity tables, not just emails and phones.
