Batch Process PDFs

Free
Apply one operation (rotate, page numbers, watermark, remove metadata, flatten, strip links) across many PDFs at once. Output bundles into a downloadable zip.

What you'll get: every input PDF processed through one chosen operation (rotate / page numbers / watermark / metadata strip / form flatten / link strip), bundled into a downloadable zip. Up to 50 PDFs per batch. For another use, try Merge PDF (single combined output).

Why people use batch PDF processing

Most PDF tasks are one-off. Batch PDF processing is for the times when they aren’t — when you have 30 scans to rotate, 50 invoices to watermark, or 100 contracts to strip metadata from. Repeating the same operation file by file is tedious and error-prone; doing it in one batch is the obvious answer.

Bulk scan correction
Phone-scanned documents often come in sideways or upside-down. Drop the whole stack, pick the rotation that fixes them, get a fixed batch back as a zip.
Invoice / receipt watermarking
Mark every invoice in a month’s billing with “PAID” or “DRAFT”. Batch keeps the watermark settings consistent across the run; alternative is opening 50 PDFs one at a time.
Privacy / compliance metadata strip
Most PDFs leak author / creator / producer / dates in metadata. Before sharing externally, run the batch with “remove metadata” to scrub every file at once. Pairs well with auditing the result via PDF Inspector.
Form-fill finalization
After filling 20 expense forms (or any AcroForm batch), flatten all of them at once so values are baked in before sharing. Recipients can’t edit; original templates stay editable elsewhere.
Pagination for binders
Compiling a binder from many separate PDFs (case files, exhibits, training materials)? Add page numbers to every PDF in one pass before merging — keeps numbering consistent across the binder.

How Batch Process works

Three steps, no signup, no uploads.

  1. STEP 1
    Drop multiple PDFs
Up to 50 PDFs, 100 MB each. Drag-drop or click to browse. Files stay in your browser — nothing uploaded.
  2. STEP 2
    Pick one operation
8 operations available: rotate (90 / 180 / 270), page numbers, diagonal watermark with custom text, remove metadata, flatten forms, strip links. Each uses sensible defaults so the batch UX doesn’t need per-file config.
  3. STEP 3
    Run & download zip
Per-file progress shows which is processing. Per-file error isolation — one bad file doesn’t fail the batch. Successful outputs bundle into a single zip; per-file download buttons available too.

What makes pdfcraft ai different

  • Same engine Chrome uses
PDFium is Google's PDF engine — the one that powers Chrome's built-in PDF viewer. We compile it to WebAssembly so it runs in your browser at near-native speed.
  • 100% local processing
Most free PDF tools upload your file to a server, process it, and stream the result back. We don't. Your file lives in your browser tab and never touches our infrastructure. Verifiable in your browser's Network panel.
  • No watermark, no signup, no daily limit
Convert 1 PDF or 1,000. We don't gate on volume because there's nothing to gate on — the engine runs on your machine.
  • Honest about limitations
When something the tool can't do (encrypted PDFs, cross-reference streams), we tell you clearly instead of failing silently. Same for partial results: sampled vs exact, embedded vs not.
  • Open standards, free engines
PDFium is BSD/Apache licensed (free for any use). We don't pay vendor license fees and pass that savings on to you (and to ourselves) as a free, ad-supported tool with no upgrade-to-pro pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Why only 8 operations?
Batch UX works best when every file in the batch shares the same config. Operations with multiple knobs (resize, crop, n-up, image watermark) need per-file decisions where the batch model breaks down — those have their own dedicated tools where you can tune each file individually. The 8 operations available here all work the same way regardless of input shape, so a single config knob covers the whole batch.
What if one PDF in the batch fails?
Per-file error isolation — the batch continues, that file lands as a failure with the error message in the per-file results table. Successful outputs still go into the zip; failed ones are excluded but visible in the result list so you know which to retry. The success card shows e.g. “Processed 47 of 50 PDFs · 3 failed”.
What's the page numbers / watermark default?
Page numbers: bottom-right, “Page 1 of N” format, 11pt. Watermark: diagonal across each page, 30% opacity, your custom text. If you need different defaults (different position, smaller font, different opacity), use the dedicated single-file tools — Page Numbers and Watermark — and run them per file.
How long does the batch take?
Roughly a few hundred milliseconds per file for fast operations (rotate, strip-links, remove-metadata) and a couple of seconds per file for slower ones (page-numbers, watermark — both add per-page drawText calls). 50-file batch of mostly small PDFs typically lands in 30–60 seconds.
What's the file size limit?
100 MB per file, 50 files per batch (so up to ~5 GB of input). Browser memory is the practical constraint — very large batches of large PDFs may slow the tab. Run smaller batches if you hit limits.
Is anything uploaded?
No. pdf-lib runs locally; the zip is built locally via JSZip. No PDFs touch our servers. Verifiable in DevTools → Network — the only request you should see is the JSZip module fetch (one time, ~100 KB).

Need to combine into one PDF?

Merge PDF combines multiple PDFs into a single output (instead of a zip of separate PDFs). Drag to reorder, lossless — pairs well with batch when you want a unified deliverable instead of a folder of files.
